  37. Painesville C of C and Madison/Perry C of C merge – 2016

  38. Hospice of the Western Reserve establishes the counties first center for end-of-life-care

  39. Lake County’s own radio station WELW 1330AM is licensed by the FCC - 1965

  40. Tall Ships event comes to Fairport Harbor - 2016

  41. Lake-Geauga Fast Track 50 Awards established in 1993

  42. The Lake-Geauga Association of realtors merged and formed in 2002

  43. LaMalfa opens new party center and Holiday Inn Suites - 1989

  44. Rabbit Run Theatre incorporates as a nonprofit in 1979

  45. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the School of Fine Arts building - 1971

  46. First Catholic high school in L.C. opens, Lake Catholic - 1972

  47. The Andrews School and the Phillips-Osborne School merge - 2007

  48. Parker Aerospace's Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division moves to larger building - 2010

  50. Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District reestablishes itself in L.C. - 1980

  51. Ohio Wine Growers Association founded - 1975

  52. Headlands Beach State Park undergoes major capital improvements - 1967

  53. Interstates 90, 271 and SR 44 (Between SR 2 and I-90) and SR 2 were constructed between 1959-1965.  I-90 was built east to west.

  54. Lake Metroparks established 1958, acquired land for their first park, Helen Hazen Wyman, 1959

  55. First State Nature Preserve Created, Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve - 1966

  56. Lake County becomes a HUD direct entitlement county for CDBG Funding 1985.  Over $40 million in CDBG funds have been granted to Lake County.

  57. Lake County becomes a HUD direct entitlement county for HOME Funding 1992. Over $12 Million have been granted to Lake County.

  58. Lake East open 1959, Lake Medical Center West open 1961.  Lake Health became a private not for profit 1985

  59. Kirtland Township incorporates as Kirtland Village in 1968 and became Kirtland City 1970

  60. Establishment of Historic Kirtland.

  61. James A. Garfield National Historic Site was created 1980

  62. NextWork launches to bridge manufacturing community and K-12 education- 2017

  63. Building 1st industrial park in Mentor

  64. Fredon established 1969

  65. Brennen’s Fish House 1974

  66. Lake County Business Journal started 1991

  67. Post war housing boom in the 60’s

  68. Jerome Osborne Company established 1961

  69. Marous Brothers Construction 1980

  70. Renovation of Mooreland as a Community Center

  72. Historic Kirtland Village built

  73. University Hospital System Center

  74. Lake Health Mentor Wellness Campus

  75. Lake County Fair Housing Resource Board was formed 1987

  76.  Lake County Department of Utilities was officially created in 1985 to supply water, solid waste and sewer services but has been around since the early 1920’s

  77. Aquarius Water facility goes online to provide drinking water to western Lake County in 1985

  78. Bacon Rd. Water facility goes online to provide drinking water to eastern Lake County in 1982

  79. Gary L. Kron Wastewater facility starts sewer service to the greater Mentor area in 1963

  80. Madison Wastewater facility is updated in 2006 to spur new commercial and residential developments

  81. County-wide Special Collection Recycling programs were established in 1998
